I joined some swaps and a few bees and suddenly got busy. That gives me something to blog about, right? So here is what I've been up to...
I made a few of these wonky star blocks for the Happy Scrap Quilt Block Swap. This group swaps monthly with each month posting a different block. You get out of it what you put into it. So if you make 6 you get 6 back. Plus 1 gets made for the administer of the group. You can drop in and out--sign up for only when you want to participate. This was my first block swap. I haven't received my blocks yet.
I joined a few rainbow charm swaps and am "impatiently" waiting for my charms in the mail :) Fabric swaps can instantly be addicting! I'm already signed up for a 3rd one. If you think you might want to join a fabric swap, a Flickr group has been put together and posts upcoming swaps. The button is also in my sidebar.
I have also joined a few bees. So fun, but also addicting! I'm in four. First up is the Stash Bee (I'm in Hive #2 and #3. I love it so far. It's based on your scrap stash so no need to purchase fabric. Post your block and the bee members use their scraps. My only problem is my stash is not very big. I know, weird huh? I'm working on that though! :) Here's my latest block for Hive #2...
I'm really happy with how it turned out. Tara requested a tree block that is modern and bright. It took me forever to decide what to make. I sketched this tree which turned out to be a paper pieced pattern. I absolutely love paper piecing! And then I improv pieced the sun, which I have never done before. It was fun! I liked it and would definitely do it again.
The next bee is String Me Along...Again. It just started for the month of April. Carla chose the ever popular String block. I received here package of fabric scraps last Saturday and made her 3 blocks yesterday.
I have also joined the Modern 99 Bee. I think it started at the beginning of the year but someone has dropped out so I'm taking her slot. My book is on it's way, as well as my package of fabric from the April hostess. I can't wait to get started!
